Believe Me

Believe me,
soon enough that boatman will be here
to carry you high and dry across
this river without a hint of light
except for the coin in your hand.
Stand up straight and tall as you can;
and if he should break the silence to speak,
smile and say nothing in reply.

    This post is perfectly accompanied by this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CK8KPh167g

      That IS a nice accompaniment! I’m blown away that that is Parliament!

        The timing of your post was poignant to say the least. I just discovered that song a few weeks ago, and have been loving it ever since. It’s from their first album and was written entirely by a woman who wasn’t in the band but befriended George Clinton. She wrote a few others for the band too.

          Not to mention the timing with your grandfather. My condolences, sir. I never really had a grandfather. I bet it is awesome.

  2. My Dear Son,
    This is the first thing I found on the new internet at my new house. And, I love it. Nicely put.
    I love you,
    Momma
